Happy MLK Day

Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of peace, of leadership, of principles.   His efforts to end segregation of the black community were punctuated by his soaring and inspirational speeches that transcended the struggles of one racial group, and spoke to the belief of equality for every man, woman and child on the planet.  The world needs more people like King willing to speak out about poverty, inequality, illiteracy and injustice.

Angel of the Beach

Tilly, a 10-year old British schoolgirl, learned about tsunamis in geography class a semester before she travelled with her family to Thailand for a vacation.   On the beach when the 9.0 earthquake hit, she recognized the signs of an impending tsunami, and told her "mummy".  An alert was raised, the beach was evacuated, and no-one in the vicinity was seriously hurt, let alone killed by the waves that have claimed over 125,000 lives.  Amazing.
