in case you haven't noticed... i'm doing all of my blogging over at The Ojai Post...
The Ojai Post is a community blog, featuring Ojai residents from all walks of life writing about the unique Ojai experience. Ojai is a special place, not just for its geography, flora and fauna, small-town architecture and rich native American history - its also because of the people - talented, creative souls who tend to walk to the beat of their own drummer and carve their own path through life. Check in for daily musings, rants, Ojai news and greater goings-on from the place some call Shangri-La.
Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit launching websites. Happy March 1, Ojai.
I'm looking for a handful of people that would like to write and post photos of their gardens, hiking adventures, local parks and common areas. This will be an online community project you'll share with other folk locally and globally.
If you're associated with an outdoor destination in Ojai, be it the Inn, Krotona, Ranch House, etc., you should feel free to get in touch as well.
This project will launch in February - get in touch soon if you're interested - email: tyler (-at-) ojaiblog dot com.
My buddy and I attended a woodworkers convention in Ontario, CA on Friday. It was what we expected - lots of overalls, suspenders and big bushy beards. We also noted that there is clearly no correlation between physical fitness and woodworking.
We saw a great demo by Mike Jackofsky, one of the world's best woodturners. He throws a hunk of wood on a lathe, and while turning, uses various instruments to remove wood, creating beautiful hollow form art works. Click the photo below to view a video of Mike on the lathe.
Ojai resident Kari Hunt will have a photography exhibition at Farmer & The Cook in Meiners Oaks from February 4 through March 3, with a big blowout opening reception from 5-7pm on Saturday, February 4th. (free hummus?)
Swing by, make yourself a salad at the only real salad bar in Ojai Valley, and support a local artist!
A little something I've been working on - the Ojai Network.
A few photos from Horn Canyon, above Thacher School, on Saturday. We made it up to the pine grove, a couple miles up the canyon. It's way up there - you can see the ocean and channel islands. Saj and his dogs (pictured) joined us for part of the hike.
